Jindřich Vaněk (1888-1965)
Jindřich Vaněk was born 9th of August 1888 In Rokycany, died 19th November 1965 in Prague. He studied architecture in Darmstadt in Germany, later he worked with famous Czech architect Josef Gocar.
In 1914 he opened photographic studio in Prague “Vanek and Kanderal”, from 1918 had his own studio in Prague. He was famous mainly for his nudes. An album of his nudes was published in 1932 titled “Apotheosis”. He also made portraits of celebrities. Several of his works were included in the exhibition “The Nude in Czech Photography” curated by Vladamir Birgus (Prague Castle, 1999). Four of his full page photographs are in Czech/English catalogue published by KANT in Prague. He was one of the most important Czech photographers of nudes and portraits between two world wars
